Über mich
Dr. Björn NAGEL is Director of the Institute of System Architectures in Aeronautics at the German Aerospace Center (DLR). His research is addressing advanced digital methods such as MBSE, MDO, AI and VR for modeling aeronautics as a system-of-systems aiming at accelerating the innovation cycle, optimizing the impact of novel technologies and finding novel holistic solutions. The collaboration in large teams of experts is characteristic to his research enabling him to capture the system of interest in the required width and depth. In 2003 he started his career as research associate at the DLR Institute of Lightweight Systems investigating the multidisciplinary optimization fiber composite wings. He became Head of the Department Integrated Aircraft Design at the DLR Institute of Air Transport in 2007 before he became Founding Director of the DLR Institute of System Architectures in Aeronautics in 2017. He received the Award for Technical Innovations from the International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences (IACS) in 2018. Dr. Nagel was visiting scientist at the Airbus Future Projects Office Madrid and the Saab Aircraft Concepts Department Linköping.
